Harry Wilson pleased with Fernando Torres Comparison

Derby’s on-loan winger Harry Wilson has admitted that he is pleased with the ongoing comparisons of him with former Liverpool star Fernando Torres. The Wales international has impressed for the Rams since joining them on a season-long loan from Liverpool during the summer and he most recently bagged the opening goal during the 3-1 win over Brentford.

Speaking after that game, Wilson said that he is pleased with him being dubbed as the ‘Scouse Torres’ but he has much to do to reach at least half of the attributes of the former Reds star, he said: “To be fair I’ve had that quite a lot on social media. I don’t see it personally but I think a lot of fans do. I’d be delighted if I could achieve half of what he has done, his goalscoring record, the trophies he has won as well.”

Meanwhile, Derby are scheduled to face Manchester United on the road in the third round of the League Cup and Wilson has spoken about the prospect of producing a strong performance against the Reds’ fierce league rivals, he added: “I’m really looking forward to going there in a first-team game and putting in a good performance. Every Liverpool fan and Liverpool player would love to go to Old Trafford and win every time we go there but we know they are a good team and we will have to be on top of our game.”

Derby begun the season in a rather slow fashion as they suffered two defeats from their opening three Championship games under Frank Lampard but they have managed to sort themselves thereafter with just one loss and this sees them occupying the final play-off position for the moment.

Nonetheless, they are still far off from securing the aim of promotion to the Premier League and hopefully they can manage to break the trend of being ousted at the play-off stage this time around. The Rams reached the play-off semi-final last season before they succumbed to a 3-0 aggregate defeat to Fulham, who eventually sealed the third promotion spot.
