SIMON JORDAN SAYS WERNER IS IN DANGER OF BECOMING THE NEXT TORRES AT CHELSEA

According to talkSPORT host Simon Jordan, Chelsea striker Timo Werner will end up becoming the new Andriy Shevchenko or Fernando Torres if his poor tun of form continues at Stamford Bridge. Simon joined the Blues fans in agreeing that should the German international striker continue to blank in front of goal, he may end up being considered as a huge transfer flop.

Werner was signed from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer for a fee reported to be in the region of £48 million (excluding bonuses) but has failed to light up Stamford Bridge with the blistering form he ended last season with for Leipzig. The striker has now played in ten straight Premier League games without finding the back of the net after initially having a bright start to life in the London club.

His poor form was once again evident in Chelsea’s game against Fulham after he came off the bench only for him to miss a one-versus-one chance against the Fulham goalkeeper. The miss was a huge one and was also missed during the closing stages of the match. Many believed that the Leipzig version of Werner would not have missed that chance and the fears of him gradually inscribing his name into the book of the Premier League transfer flops have further increased since then.

Jordan has now revealed that part of his fears is seeing Werner end up suffering from the famous “number 9 curse” at Chelsea following the failed Blues careers of Russian legend Andriy Shevchenko and former Blues forward Fernando Torres who both found life difficult playing up front for Chelsea

Jordan said he watched Werner at the beginning of the season, and he was a better player than he is currently. He said if care is not taken, we could have another Fernando Torres in our hands.
