TORRES RETURNS TO ATLETICO AS COACH

Atletico Madrid legend Fernando Torres has returned to the Spanish La Liga club in a coaching capacity. The new development involving Torres was announced by the club last week Sunday.

Fernando Torres turned to coaching after hanging up his boots and he has a chance to prove himself after Atletico Madrid confirmed him as the coach of Juvenil A. The ex-Spanish national team striker had been familiarisinghimself with the various coaching setups worked at the new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium for the better part of the last year before the club decided to hand him a role as one of the youth coaches.

Torres, fondly called El Nino, has been getting to grips with the coaching methodology at Atletico Madrid before taking the u-19 coaching job. The u-19 team is known as Juvenil A.

El Nino is a product of the Atletico Madrid Academy having joined the youth ranks in 1995. Fernando Torres showed his quality as a very good striker at an early age and he was drafted into the first team. The Spaniard played his first game for the Atletico first team at the age of 17 and he was already the club captain at the age of 19.

Fernando Torres left Spanish champions Atletico Madrid to sign for Liverpool where he became one of the most feared strikers in world football. He was a Liverpool player for over three years before his controversial transfer to Premier League rivals Chelsea. He returned to Atletico Madrid via AC Milan some years later. Torres made more than 400 appearances over his two spells at the club.

In a related development, Borja Resurreccion has been the name the coach in charge of Cadete B. Borja Resurreccion is the brother of Atletico Madrid star Koke who also represents the Spanish national team.
