TORRES DELIGHTED WITH SUPPORT

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has said that he is extremely delighted with the support he has received from Chelsea fans so far.

Fernando Torres has been one of the greatest disappointments in the last decade. The Chelsea striker cost £ 50 million on the deadline day of the last January transfer window.

He arrived from Liverpool with much fanfare, as it was seen as the age of the new striker. Didier Drogba has been having the striker’s role at Chelsea football club since 2004. It seems that the owner Roman Abramovich decided to spice things up by going for the extravagant Spaniard. However, it has not worked out one little bit, as the Spaniard has struggled for both form and fitness.

In the one-year he has spent at Chelsea, Fernando Torres has scored only five goals in the league. If you have put money on this abysmal return the online football odds would have been astronomical. His form could have demanded the wrath of supporters, but the Chelsea fans have so far been extremely patient with Fernando Torres.

It is something that the former Liverpool man acknowledges and says that he will soon repay the faith of the supporters. Even though Fernando Torres has been playing rather well, he has been extremely unlucky in front of goal in the last few weeks.

“I would like things to be much better but the support they give me every day is amazing. I remember a game against Wolverhampton and I was on the bench, and they were still singing my name. I’ve been very lucky to live very good moments but that game, when I was in the middle of nothing and not playing, was maybe the best memory I have in all my career,” Torres told Chelsea TV.

Didier Drogba is expected to return from the African cup of nations in the middle of February, which will only intensify the competition for Torres.
